Sen. Rick Scott: The Only Person Joe Biden Can Blame for Inflation Crisis is Himself

October 14, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which showed inflation continued to rise in September increasing 8.6% over the year. Senator Scott is demanding President Joe Biden address the impact of his reckless spending and unconstitutional mandates which are fueling his inflation crisis and massive supply chain disruptions across America.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Joe Biden can’t seem to grasp basic economics. We now have simultaneous crises: a crippled supply chain that can't deliver on time, or at all, and massive inflation that's crushing Americans with skyrocketing prices. Inflation hurts everyone, but it's most devastating for America’s poorest families, like mine growing up. Thanks to Biden's failed agenda of systemic socialism and unconstitutional mandates, businesses cannot produce the goods that Americans need while keeping their prices low, and families cannot afford to buy these products when they finally find them on the shelves. The American people need answers. Last week, I called for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to testify in the Senate Commerce Committee on how the Biden administration is addressing supply chain issues that will only further fuel inflation. It’s time for Biden to stop pointing fingers and take responsibility. This crisis is his fault, and he needs to put American families first and fix it now.”

Price increases over the year include:

  • Gasoline: 80.4%
  • Meats: 38%
  • Grains: 55%
  • Apparel: 14%
  • Truck Transportation: 15%
  • Machines and Equipment: 13%

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation:
