Sen. Rick Scott Applauds Nomination of John P. “Jack” Heekin for United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement applauding President Donald Trump’s nomination of John P. “Jack” Heekin to serve as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Heekin currently serves in Senator Scott’s Senate Office as Deputy Chief of Staff and General Counsel. Heekin began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting criminal offenses for the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida in Palm Beach County, and he continued on to serve as Chief Deputy General Counsel and then Deputy Chief of Staff in the administration of Governor Rick Scott of Florida.

 

Senator Rick Scott said, “I am incredibly proud to support the nomination of Jack Heekin for the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Jack has been a critical part of my team for the past 12 years in my office as Governor and now U.S. Senator. In our work together, Jack has shown exemplary character and a deep respect for the U.S. Constitution, the rule of law, and the roles of our three branches of government. I have full faith that Jack will do a phenomenal job enforcing our laws and proudly represent the United States government and the Northern District of Florida, and I urge my colleagues to support his quick confirmation.”
