Sen. Rick Scott Introduces No Tax-Exemptions for Terror Act to Strip Tax-Exempt Status From CAIR

December 18, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott announced his No Tax-Exemptions for Terror Act to eliminate the special tax-exempt status for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization found to have ties to terrorism. Senator Marsha Blackburn is a cosponsor of the legislation.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Groups like CAIR, which identify as charities yet have been identified by the FBI as having ties to terrorist activity, don’t deserve special tax treatment or get breaks designed for charitable organizations. Period. My bill makes that clear by revoking their tax-exempt status. America fights terrorists, we do not fund them.”

Senator Marsha Blackburn said, “It goes without saying that organizations tied to terrorism should not receive tax benefits. The No Tax Exemptions for Terror Act would ensure radical groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations are not rewarded for doing the bidding of terrorists.”
