Sen. Rick Scott Leads Resolution Condemning Attacks Against Federal Law Enforcement in Illinois
October 16, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott and Marsha Blackburn introduced a resolution condemning the despicable, violent attacks against federal law enforcement in Chicago and the state of Illinois.
Senator Rick Scott said, “It’s disgusting to see violence against our federal law enforcement officers in Chicago, enabled by a soft-on-crime mayor and governor. Every elected official should be condemning this violence, not cheering it on. President Trump made the right call to use federal help on the ground to keep Americans safe, while local leadership refuses to do so. These hardworking officers are just doing their jobs to keep others safe — they don’t deserve the hateful rhetoric and violence against them.”
Senator Marsha Blackburn said, “Radical left officials in Illinois and Chicago have chosen to protect illegal aliens and violent criminals instead of law-abiding Americans and law enforcement officers. Their refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement has opened agents up to attacks, endangered local communities, and empowered criminals. These federal agents are doing heroic work, and it’s time for local officials to restore law and order.”
